While directing New Life Mission, an organisation devoted to
inner city children, Cal Maskery saw a great need to
help transform the lives of parents so that the homes of the
children, reached by the mission, could provide a safe and healthy
environment. So began Harvest House Ministries in the spring of
1997 to expand outreach to include the entire family unit. Cal
believed that this would break the cycle of crime, addictions and
abuse passed on from parents to children through successive
generations. That same vision remains clear in the hearts of our
staff and volunteers today. Since we do not believe that anyone is
a lost cause, our purpose is to demonstrate Christ's love in
practical ways. By using Biblical principles, our hope is to see
them restored to a productive, healthy lifestyle with Christ at the
centre.
Today Harvest House Ministries has a growing number of centers
throughout the Maritimes so that we may address issues facing
individuals. We serve in many different areas and our various
programs include:
- Addiction recovery (2 locations)
- 12 Step Overcomers Program
- Counselling
- Daily Discipleship Training
- GED
- Emergency Overnight Shelters
- Step Up Housing
- Medical Assistance
- Drop in Centers
- Youth Outreach
- Step Up Housing
As shelter residents move forward in life, Harvest House wants
to move with them. When they get a full time job, or go back to
school, they will be given a private room either at 182 High
Street, or 119 Gordon Street. Harvest House feels that this
is where our housing should move to. So as our clients take a step,
we are ready and willing to take a step to match.
